I played around with the idea and came out with this end result. I use 2 Metal bars from a purse that I had. put one through the foam underneath the back of the jaw and one protruding from the back like a U. It rests on my chin. As I close my mouth it opens the mouth and as I open my mouth it closes the fursuit mouth. going to reinforce it abit more, but it works. Now I just need to learn how to move my chin away when I;m not opening and closing the mouth.

As for the foam i need to shape it and round it abit more. I need to get screen mesh for the eyes and finish making the eyes. Make the nose and finish adding the ears. it looks like a Dragons head at the moment with the horns. ^^

I have a long ways before I declare the head done and ready for Furring. Now for the Feedback.

Changes for Franken Sticth

i decided to make a new post as the last one had a lot of replies and it was for both this costume and Roushu wolf and well this is a new topic as i am now looking for opinions on changing him...

i am not changing the stiches
i am not changing the bubble fur or the striped fur

anyway i did a photo manip to show a slightly altered color scheme for franken stitch and some cleaned up features such as the nose and making the gray of the leg darker to match the shoulder better.

i elminated any red fur and took out the orange as well

does the new look make him a whole lot better a.k.a worth bothering with the changes?

or should i just leave him alone

i have the image both big and shruken for contrast becuase i know when i critique things things stand out different when the picture is shruken

still alive!
havent posted in a little while.  with the hot weather i just dont have a whole lot of energy after a full day of schlepping mail for the US Postal Service.  since i had last weekend off, i have to work 6 straight days before i get another day off (sunday...AND monday).  looking at the extended forecast, things look a little better next week!

went to Polaris/Toronto Trek in Toronto last weekend.  had a really nice time.   got a chance to meet both Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax from ST:DS9) and Jim Butcher (author of the Harry Dresden novels).  autographs from both.  i was originally planning on spending saturday night in Toronto, but changed my mind and came home early.  spent sunday puttering around.

saw Steely Dan before i left for Toronto.  it cost me about $100 but it was worth it.  great show.  got an AJA t-shirt with the tour venues on the back.  i'll go into more detail in the next Woyro's Warren podcast...coming...soonish.

Suspenders?
Evening,
I was wondering, where do all of you gentlemen get your suspenders? While they are normally not too "steamy" or decorated at all for that matter, suspenders can be a very important aspect of any man's outfit- especially when it's Victorian-inspired.
I've tried Ebay, Etsy and a few other webshops. Pretty much everything I've found is meant as a novelty or it is utterly cheap, meant for some guy who needs to go to a formal event and will settle for anything. I'm specifically looking for suspenders with a black on black pattern, but anything nice would do. Steampunk prints would be fabulous, although I'm not sure if anyone has made something like that as of yet.
Please help some slacking breeches~

Carving
Heh now that I'm actually starting my fursuit, I've come up with a lot of questions. Sorry if I seem pesky.

So...carving foam seems to be a lot harder that I thought it'd be. I'm using the right foam, it's upholstery foam that's 2 inches thick. I'm using the orange handled Fiskers fabric scissors to carve, but it is killing my hand and anything where I have to carve a concave shape (like dishing out the inside of the top half of the mouth, or the inside of the ears) is really hard to do well. Also, doing the initial rough cut of the foam from the big square is really hard to do. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better tool to use for carving? There isn't anything on the memories page exclusively about carving foam.

Any help is appreciated. I'm a total newbie, so I'm open for ideas and tips from people who've done this before.

Thanks.

FurrHappens suit updates!
Got a few to post up tonight. Been quite busy with our traveling, and its been difficult to find the free time to work on sorting photos. But anyways, here they finally are! Sorry for the delay on them ^^.

KomoDog! Half dragon and half fuzzy dog. Pictures here!
Hes got lots of awesome and expressive dreadlocks that are super fun to flop around. Check out that green tongue! Watch for this guy at MFF and European conventions ^^.

And our other project, the one we mentioned earlier with the ton of airbrushing. The owner plans to wear this pelt on his head and draped over his shoulders. It fits really nicely, as well as looks beautiful on the floor as a rug. No lower jaw upon request of the owner. Definitely a project we would open up to again. More pics of this lovely wolf pelt here.

Also, we have been discussing the idea of offering similar replica 'rugs' of peoples suits/characters. I know for sure I would love one of my characters on my living room floor!  Just about any species doable as we build them somewhat similar to a fursuit. Email us if interested, pricing is still being worked out but should be soon. -> Info@furrhappens.com

Enjoy!
